This 3” horizontal centre flue style boiler system, from Miniature Steam, is designed to run small medium pressure model steam engines of up to 19mm (3/4”) bore/stroke in Single Cylinder and 16mm (5/8”) bore/stroke in Twin Cylinder with an operating pressure of up to 60psi. As shown, the traditional design of this boiler system - the steam dome with collar and flue with collar and the integral cast feet - will add to the charm and feel of any model you care to mount it in. The cast feet also mean that the boiler can be mounted anywhere, there is no need for a specialised mounting tray, making installation a simple process, even in tricky models. Pressure gauge, walnut lagging timber and brass securing straps are also included.
The boiler also features the Miniature Steam Ceramic Burner (MS5092). This burner is cast from ceramic and has been specifically designed to provide optimum burning characteristics in enclosed spaces such as the centre flue or firebox of a boiler. They are entirely different to inferior ceramic burners made from heating tiles designed for radiant room heaters! The gas/air mixture of the Miniature Steam ceramic burner burns outside the ceramic insert. This results in a more efficient transfer of heat to the boiler’s heating surface. The burner also remains relatively cool, thus improving the thermal efficiency of the burner and minimising the chance of back burning.
NOTE: The Horizontal Boiler is pressure tested before shipping and is therefore supplied with test certificate.
